Place the cupped hands of both hands around the lure, open and close them while turning the head in all directions. Start quietly, then get louder and end quietly again (death wail). Only squawk once from one place, because even the fox knows that a rabbit can only die once. If you are sitting on a pulpit, always point the lament towards the ground, as the dying hare cannot climb onto the pulpit, the fox knows this too.
The best time to squawk is in the first two weeks of February. The rancour is then over and the stomach is empty. If there is still a thaw and a hazy atmosphere at this time, you can have success as early as late afternoon. There has not been a real emergency period in winter in recent decades, but a fox instinctively reacts to a dying hare.
The following applies to hare hunting: "Less is often more"
